Páng used to live in a remote village in Vietnam, together with her parents and little brother. She is a child with Down syndrome and her mother could not look after her all day, being busy working in the rice fields.
When Páng was offered a place in the Duniya Foundation supported rehabilitation centre, her parents agreed. They miss the happy girl dearly, but also realize that for the time being, Páng is better off in a place where she can play with other children, eats three meals a day and receives special education by trained teachers.
In the first photo, we visited the mother and showed her an iPhone image of her happy daughter. The mother cried, knowing it is for the best.
By buying our cookbook Street Food Vietnam, you support the meals in the rehabilitation centre where Páng lives together with 50 other children.
